Limitations of Using Tidal Energy

  1. Converting the energy of the tides into the electrical energy may require the construction of channels and barrages which may impact environment.
  2.  Tidal energy only available on the coast, some locations are better than others because of tidal range.
  3. Variation of tidal range cause the output to not to uniform throughout the day.
  4. Because of the variation of the head water throughout the day,the plant effectiveness slightly compromised.
  5. Maintenance of machinery is difficult when performed under the water or sea.
  6. The construction of solid tidal dam is difficult with the tide changes.
  7. The corrosive nature of sea water is proven to corrode untreated modern machinery,
